About Lupo Academy

Practical, kind dog training built on understanding

Lupo Academy was created to help dogs and their owners learn together in a way that feels clear, fair and achievable.

Dog training should not be about forcing dogs into neat little boxes or expecting you to get everything right the first time. Real dogs are messy, emotional, funny, sensitive, clever, impulsive and sometimes deeply inconvenient. Life is busy, and you may be trying your best with conflicting advice coming at you from every direction.

At Lupo Academy, we focus on practical, positive training that helps you understand your dog, build useful skills and create a calmer, more confident partnership in everyday life.

Meet Tracey

Lupo Academy is run by Tracey, an experienced dog trainer
based in Basingstoke.

Tracey has over 10 years’ experience training dogs and has worked with puppies, adolescent dogs, rescue dogs, reactive dogs, busy family dogs, scentwork dogs, mantrailing teams and owners who simply want life with their dog to feel easier.

Because the dog training industry is unregulated, Tracey takes professional development seriously. Her education includes canine coaching, the Think Dog courses with Sarah Whitehead, advanced dog training through the APDT, Force Free Trick Trainer training, and continued learning with respected trainers and organisations including Victoria Stilwell, Chirag Patel, David Ryan and the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers.

Tracey is also an accredited Mantrailing Instructor and a member of the Pet Professional Guild.

Qualifications matter, but they are only part of the picture. Good dog training also requires observation, patience, adaptability and the ability to see the dog in front of you, not just the behaviour that is causing the problem.

How we train

Lupo Academy uses positive, reward-based training methods.

That means we teach dogs what we want them to do, reward good choices, manage situations thoughtfully and build behaviour through clear communication rather than fear, force or intimidation.

Positive training does not mean letting dogs do whatever they like. It means teaching properly. It means setting dogs up to succeed, building foundations carefully and understanding why behaviour is happening instead of only trying to suppress it.

Dogs learn best when they feel safe enough to think. Owners learn best when they feel supported rather than judged. That is the atmosphere we aim to create in every class and session.

Training for real life

Dogs do not live in perfect training environments. They live around visitors, children, other dogs, traffic, wildlife, vet visits, pub gardens, muddy footpaths, school runs and all the tiny daily chaos that comes with human life.

That is why our training is practical.

We work on skills that help outside the classroom: recall, loose lead walking, focus, calmness, confidence, settling, handling, appropriate greetings, resilience and better communication between dog and owner.

The goal is not to create a robot. The goal is to help you and your dog understand each other better, so everyday life becomes easier for both of you.

A supportive place to learn

People often come to training when something feels difficult.

Maybe your puppy is biting everything and everyone. Maybe your adolescent dog has discovered selective hearing. Maybe your dog pulls, barks, struggles around other dogs or finds the world overwhelming. Maybe you simply want to do something enjoyable together.

You will not be shamed for needing help.

At Lupo Academy, training is calm, supportive and realistic. We look at your dog, the environment, your circumstances, the training history and the skills that need building. Then we make a plan that feels possible.
